The Fuel Cell Compass presents a current extract of hydrogen production projects across Asia. Most of these projects are located in China and India. This development is analogue to the development of electrolyzer production in Asia (see article).
Similar to the development in Europe, many projects are yet in the planning or construction phase and therefore not yet operating. The following years will show, on how many of these the final investment decision will take place and how many will fall short due to market uncertainties.
Production capacities are currently increasing globally, but the total announced scope of new projects is not yet sufficient. Therefore, the planned production capacities fall short for what would be needed to satisfy the hydrogen demand forecast for 2030. The market is not yet saturated and thus offers potential for new market participants - if the demand forecasts are realistic and will be stable.
For the development of this article, the databases of the Fuel Cell Compass have been used.
Although the “Fuel Cell Atlas” maps look at the fuel cell and hydrogen market from many different angles and business areas, they do not claim to be exhaustive. Nevertheless, all followers are invited to contribute to the topicality. The Fuel Cell Compass team will be happy to incorporate suggestions and additions submitted upon review.
